It’s Friday. Thank the heavens.
Because I’ve had more than one extra long post this week, including my typically brief Sunday Sweet, I’m just going to give you a kick ass playlist, and a few, kick ass book recommendations.
Flesh and Bone- The Killers
The Killers make me want to don tight colored jeans, something plaid, a lot of vintage, horn-rimmed glasses, and drink single barrel scotch while waxing poetic on something contrary. Let them bring out your inner hipster as well. It’s not quite Bon Iver, but who cares when Brandon Flowers is there?
Here With Me- Also The Killers
Kill Your Heroes- AWOLNATION
This song is a lot cheerier than the title implies. It’s quite catchy, and thus, you’ll be humming it until your brain pops.
Lovers’ Eyes- Mumford and Sons
Someone, somewhere, is strumming a banjo until their fingers bleed.
Dirty Little Secret- The Chevin
Way better than other songs bearing the same title….trust me.
I’ve Just Seen a Face- Across The Universe
It’s the Beatles, it’s not. It’s happy, and it makes you want to skip naked through a field of freshly fallen leaves hand-in-hand with someone you’ve just met.
Sovereign Light Cafe- Keane
If you don’t like Keane, I don’t think you have ears….or perhaps a soul….or maybe just ears.
Now for the books!!
“The Parasol Protectorate” Series, starting with “Soulless” by Gail Carriger
It’s steampunk, which is most odd for me to read. The prose is simply fantastic, though. The author used my favorite word more than once. (cogent)
“Anansi Boys” by Neil Gaiman
It’s Neil Gaiman, so you know it’s not going to be total shit. It’s a first person POV, which can leave other characters underdeveloped. Not with Neil! It actually makes them richer, and more real.
“America Again: Re-Becoming the Greatness We Never Weren’t” Stephen Colbert
This man can write. Even when discussing the prevaricating political types, you are drawn in quickly and firmly.
LINKS!!
Chemo Letters to Oprah by fellow Brooklynite and former Mormon H Alan Scott writes letters to Oprah about the state of him, and going through chemo for testicular cancer.
Cooking With Christopher Walken Self-explanatory. Umm Hmmm
And now, a dose of cute….

Bookmarking this page for future reference. I read the first 2 books of the All Souls Trilogy per your recommendation and LOVED THEM!
I’m so glad!! That’s the best compliment a booknerd can receive!
Okay….I don’t think I know a single song on here. I’m such a lame-o. I will spend this evening looking them up on iTunes. Ha.
Happy weekend, friend!!!
SO MUCH CUTE!
