SUNDAY SWEET!!

After a long week of travel, relaxation, eating too much, not running, and chasing a certain 4 year old around an inflatable pool, this Sunday Sweet HAD to be a sort of healthy one. My body craved it. I suppose I could have made a pile of chocolate chip cookie covered rolos with snickers on top, but A: Pinterest already has 043973945687 variations on that recipe, and B: I value my digestive system.

Moving along…(catch my pun?) I decided to make something that tastes delicious, but has a multitude of other benefits as well, but my brain kept screaming “PEACH MELBA”, which is weird, because I don’t think I have ever had peach melba. I knew a drag queen called “Peaches Melba”, but I don’t think she was edible.

After googling recipes for peach melba, I realized it’s just peaches boiled in sugar syrup. WHO NEEDS TO BOIL PEACHES IN SUGAR DURING PEACH SEASON??? No one; that’s who. It’s also served with vanilla ice cream. I get the desire, but that’s a whole lotta sweet, right? I know I mentioned I value my colon, but I also value my teeth, and I already effed those up with gastric bypass surgery and my sleep grinding. (I could grind wheat to flour at night) I do NOT need to add insult to injury.

I scrapped Melba. I turned on my grill. I got out my Chobani. I made my daughter squee with delight, it was that good.

Grilled Peaches Supreme. Millions of Peaches. Peaches for Me.

grilled peach melba.

I halved the peaches. I grilled the peaches. I served them with Chobani 0% plain, mixed with a drop of almond extract, a drizzle of honey, and a sprinkle of cinnamon. I pronounced it awesome. You’re welcome, America. Eat 10,000 grilled peaches. I am already past that, I think. I can’t get enough.

  1. That looks perfect for a Sunday morning! Makes me want to head back to the grocery store to pick up peaches…

  2. I’ve never heard of peach Melba either, but love your version! Have you ever grilled bananas? I could see a similar recipe with those being pretty darn tasty.

Glad you’re back from all the travels, enjoy Sunday!

  3. Those sound so good to me right now. To think, I even had peaches this morning that I wasted in a smoothie (not really wasted because it was yummy, but still…)

  4. I’ve actually been loving grilled apples lately. I eat them the same way (with yogurt)!

OOOH it’s the almond extract I need!

I picked up a couple peaches yesterday at a little stand on the side of the road…definitely eating them this way. Question though, did you lay them directly on the grill or put them in foil? Also, about how long did you have them on the grill? I know nothing about grilling, but my fiance and I have been grilling everyday since closing on our first home! Everything is so delicious on the grill…
