So, apparently I’m posting on “vacation time” because the Captain and I woke up super late. My internet is also super whacked here, so I fled to the ‘Bux. I’m blogging with a latte. I feel like a real blogger. Normally, I blog with my French pressed dunkin, in my jammies, with two kids hanging on me.
It’s an art, really. I kinda feel like a poser here at Starbucks. A well-caffeinated poser.
Yesterday, I focused on portion sizes of the foods I know are 110% not what I should ever be eating, and I still feel like total crap today. I kept trying to ask myself “WWJBD?” “What would Joy Bauer do?” Mostly because she’s the spriteliest of all of the TV diet gurus, and she’s on “The Today Show”.
Instead, I felt like I was asking “WWMBD?” or “What Would Mario Batali Do?”
So you see, It was like I had a devil and an angel on my shoulder, and purgatory won. I feel like blech.
Today, I started the day with a protein bar that I think has only added to my blech. It was store-bought, tasted like chocolate soap, and smelled like my shame. I could yak. Tomorrow, I am eating oatmeal. Good, comforting, shame-free, oatmeal.
Before you start telling me I have an ED, I will tell you that I KNOW I shouldn’t feel shamed of eating a protein bar for breakfast, and the fact that I ate one isn’t what makes me shameful, it’s the fact I DIDN’T MAKE IT, is what made me hang my head and tuck tail. I AM A FOOD BLOGGER, DAMNIT!! I don’t need no stinking store-bought bars!!!
On the bright side, I made a healthier dessert yesterday that was a BIG hit. My MawMaw ate around 4 or 5 herself. Since she’s a hare’s breath from 90, she can eat what she damned well pleases.
I used store bought phyllo cups, lower-fat ricotta, honey, vanilla, cinnamon, and berries to make a yummy summer treat.
