Growing up the fat daughter of a Nurse executive in the midwest meant a lot of trips to the mall. I loved this more than anything. I loved “helping” my mom pick out new suits and heels to wear to a business meeting; trying on the jewelry in the MayCompany accessories department; sharing a diet coke with my mom; but, most of all I loved The Original Cookie Company.
This was the pre-cursor to fancier operations like Mrs Field’s or Nestlé cookeries. My chubby little heart would squee with delight upon walking into Belden Village Mall and seeing the giant cookie cakes; cookie sandwiches made with frosting so artificial that I once lost one; found it ALMOST A YEAR LATER, (my room wasn’t cleaned as often as it is now) and it *looked exactly the same. (As chubby as my ass was, I wasn’t about to eat a year old cookie. Though, I probably thought about it.)
The cookie most frequently chosen, the one that could bring about a rapture so deep, that it was basically my first sexual experience; (Only way better, way less messy, and I actually wanted to experience it again.) this cookie was the M&M cookie. It was easily the size of Shaq’s hand and studded with beautiful peanut M&Ms.
It was the most basic sugar cookie. It wasn’t anything fancy, just a simple base with the M&Ms hand pressed into the dough. Although sex, thank the heavens got better with age (and my awesomeness-not gonna lie), this cookie, didn’t. It remained a sad relic of the past. Conjuring great memories but not great taste.
I wanted something nostalgic for this batch, but I also wanted it to taste good. Just then, it hit me. I remembered what I had in my cabinet; cinnamon M&Ms. Oh yes, you read that right, CINNAMON M&Ms. So I did what every sane person would do. I baked at 10:30 at night. I took a basic Toll House cookie recipe, used in my family for eons, and stirred in some cinnamon M&Ms. Let me just say, they didn’t suck. I will DEFINITELY want to do this again, WITH THE LIGHTS ON, and I won’t even need a third margarita.
Batch 17
Ingredients
- 2 sticks softened butter
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 2/3 cup white sugar
- 2 1/2 cup flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1.5 cups cinnamon m&ms
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F
- cream butter and sugars
- add eggs and vanilla
- sift in flour, salt, and baking soda slowly.
- slowly stir in the M&Ms
- using a larger scoop, place the scoops at LEAST 2" apart
- bake on parchment lined cookie sheets for 12 minutes

My cookie struggle always comes with the “at LEAST 2″ apart” part.
Cookies = amorphous dough balls, right?
“place the amorphous dough balls at least 2″ apart from one another” or just bake it in a baking dish and call it a cookie bar.
oh WOW that sounds yummy. Bookmarking this, thank you!
(I didn’t know cinammon M&Ms even existed!)
Thanks! They are so
gone alreadywonderful.per your comment to me, so I’d have to give up eating M & Ms in order to bake with them? I’m up for the challegne as long as youre up for the eggnog baking challenge
Deal.
Holy cow, I need that cookie right this second. Less messy…you make me laugh so hard!
you know it’s true.
Hahaha, this post is really funny. Cookies over first romantic experiences any day!
Also, I had no idea cinnamon M&M’s existed. Are they filled with Chocolate and Cinnamon? Or just cinnamon? I’m very intrigued.
It’s like your average m&m with a cinnamon kick.
